Before I list anything the first and most important proficiency you need is the right mindset. You need confidence in yourself but an understanding that starting a business is hard work, at least at first. There are two types of people who desire to start a home based business, “The Dreamer” and “The Realist”. Being a dreamer will only get your house reposed. Being a realist will drive you to success.
There are 7 mistakes both the dreamer and the realist make that if corrected or controlled will make a huge difference in the profits of your business:
- Not having a game plan when getting started. Most new business owners are all excited about the product they give little thought about how to promote it or even its ability to provide long term profits. So make sure you have a solid plan on what you need to get off the ground and daily maintenance.
- Thinking you need to know everything before you get started. No one knows everything and it’s not a disgrace to say you don’t know but will get the answer. If you don’t jump in quickly you’ll never get started. Just take action.
- Advertising perfection, an affliction suffered by everyone. Your ads don’t have to be perfect, your video can have some mistakes; this is all part of the game. You test and learn as you go.
- 4. Stagnation is the worst. A lack of confidence will cause you to do nothing, or a fear of what others will think. Who cares? Home based business is about serving others; serve and you will learn and grow.
- Feeling overwhelmed. There is so much to learn about the product, advertising, selling and technology that after weeks of trying the home business owner gives up. This happens 98% of the time. Focus on what’s important and what you do best and outsource the rest. If that’s not an option, pick three advertising methods and become the expert in those.
- Not treating this like a business. Owning a business is hard work. You can’t expect to work an hour a day and become a millionaire. Set daily tasks and continually work and improving your network marketing education.
- Not taking personal development seriously. This is the number one success principal and the biggest reason for failure. Don’t dismiss this step; your success depends on it.
