Are you reading the papers or listening to the news these days? If so you know that:
- The recession is now officially here
- Gas is expected to reach $4.00 per gallon by summer
- XYZ Company makes massive layoffs
- Home prices down 2.5% in March
With all this negative commentary why would anyone want to work for or at a corporate job these days?
Well my guess is because of fear or laziness. Now I’m not calling anyone lazy in a negative manner. It’s not easy looking for a job these days. And with all the layoffs companies have a wide array of applicants to choice from. So they might feel why risk a sure thing for the unknown. So better to stay put no matter how miserable the job is.
So this is where I get confused. If people find the job that miserable and they fear every day going to work that it might be the last day, since the company can let you go in a heart beat, why they don’t want to take their future in their own hands?
Starting a home based business does not have to be a scary thing. You can start part-time and work up to full-time when the home based business income exceeds the job income. And it will if you work half as hard at the home business as you do to make someone else rich.
Money Saving Idea #1
You can save a lot of money on gas and wear and tear on your car and your nerves by working from the comfort of your home.
A recently published article in one of my home business magazines states that 72% of Americans are looking for some sort of home based business. Some because of dissatisfaction with their current job or they need to supplement the monthly income.
Owning your own home business is a great way to manage the current problem and the best way to build for the future. Working for yourself is reward in itself. Think about the possibilities there are for those on the internet. Most big businesses, and if they don’t they soon will, have a method of online business. Best Buy offers discounts, big discounts on product purchased online. This is great for the small business person. How you might say? Competition is great….as a small business owner we have the ability to offer better customer service and personalized attention that the big boys don’t want or can’t do.
Money Saving Idea #2
When you own your own business you’re the CEO. You set the salary, you run the operations, you handle the finances, you take off when you want, you take vacation when you want….the money you make is ALL YOURS! With the right attitude and the right opportunity you won’t have to worry about paying the mortgage ever again.
I’m luckier than some, I live in Colorado. The housing market got bad, we were #1 for a while in foreclosures, but that has turned around a bit, we are no longer number one. Because Colorado held a pretty steady low rate of appreciation on housing we didn’t slip as low as say Las Vegas.
Money Saving Idea #3
If you own your own home based business you can deduct expenses you can’t if working out of the home. I’m not a CPA or a Lawyer so I won’t give advice, however I know you can deduct a portion of your mortgage expense, utilities, upkeep, lawn services, house cleaning services, you can even deduct the upkeep of the family dog if done properly.
You won’t get that from your local corporate America company…..
